Have you used the correct fooder? Usually leaving them by their own with food on the floor they approach them and eat all by themselves.
Well, they are not "that smart". I have seen them often on long periods with the bubble over their head that they are hungry and not eating at all. And on other times the fodder I dropped vanished instantly. Might be "normal bot behaviour" for them that we have to wait for them and just let them do their thing.
That was the first thing me and my crew tried. Did not work for us.
Also, you can use your dead crew mates as food!
