I carry 2 loaded guns(don't like to waist time reloading in combat), and 2 diving knives, duel welding knives while buffed on stims wrecks creatures.
Its not that hard, just takes a bit of practice to get use to it.
I took on 6 crawlers that way and came out on top.
well for me it was several of those guys that zip in circles just out of your diving suits flashlight range, shooting long javalin things.
it was also about a full excelent quality o2 tank away from the cave entrance.
I'm quite sure spinelings don't even spawn in caves, but they're definitely not the target of such a mission.
I dislike cave exploration missions especially nest cleaning. Consider buying and bringing a stack of nitroglycerine, basically contact explosives, to use as well. They do good work on nests and practically everything else.
And bring meds too of course. Plastine bandages and morphine aplenty...usual stuff.
They can, but I'm not sure if it's intentional or not. I've seen them in there a bunch of times, but never more than two at once. Depending on the cave structure though they're not very good at moving around at all and often end up swimming directly at you trying to burrow through cavern rock, rather than swimming around to reach you. In an open area though they can be incredibly annoying.
Regardless, here's what I do.
You need to order at least one bot to come with you, preferably a couple of high level security bots whom you have maxed out as soldiers with diving skills. You yourself should 'also' be controlling a high level security character with diving and soldier talents. Leave the captain behind in the sub with orders to maintain position.
Remember, you can switch to personally control any of your bot crew members.
Will these bots be great? Nope, but they will be tanky and provide a little bit of extra firepower.
That said, you also want to bring a bunch of flares and meds. Wear helmets under your diving suit, have SMGs with 'lots' of ammo, as well as sidearms and melee weapons. Do 'not' leave any open inventory space in your kits, you want to bring all the equipment you can.
So, it 'is' doable, as I've done it now several times, but it is 'not' fun.
EDIT: The devs have promised the next update will include improvements for bots out of the submarine, so we'll see I guess.
