the plateu, probably the best place, as i think it has one of the lowest abyss depths in the game. it should be doable in any biome.
in the abyss above the very bottom theres weird floating islands. ive seen 2 types ones that are just solid and have some resources or next to nothing on the outside and another type that's hollow - you can tell by the current signatures on the sonar. those have some environmental hazards inside and resources on the inside and outside. all resources there are rare alien ores - dementonite, physicorium (seems rarer than the other ores?), fulgurium, incendium and paralyxis. unfortunately no oxygenite and sulphurite. you dont have to deconstruct them either, you just get the bars after mining them.
the thing about the abyss is that nothing spawns there, except the single endworm or charybdis, which are... kind of pushovers. ive killed over 10 of those in orca (2 players + 6 bots) and i dont think theyve ever actually killed anyone. you kill them and then you're free to mine everything for easily tens of each of the alien materials. after doing this a few times you're set for the entirety of the campaign. you can sell paralyxis and dementonite for tons of money too. you could even probably do this without fighting them if you're stealthy.

as he stated previously, most of the time youll just have to handle one Big Monster and then your free to go, with no more danger at all.
after some time with the game, i wouldnt say endworm or chabrydis are the most dangerous threat
ive only tried once but it seemed all the islands are in the area of the hot currents that burn anyone super fast
it might be an anomaly and still doable with pucs but even then im not sure
