No Backseat Moderating
Let the moderators do the moderating. Backseat moderating is when people who are not moderators try to enforce the forum rules. If you see a person breaking the rules, take advantage of the Report () button or simply ignore the offensive post(s), thread, or review.
Report Posts to Moderators
Should you observe a fellow Community member breaking these rules please report the post or item by clicking the Report () button located on every item, post, and review.
Repeated Offenders
Repeated offenders of the above rules and guidelines will be banned from the Steam Community. Any moderator has the ability to ban a user for violating the rules at their discretion.
Also sure some ppl will post legit trolls but the trolls will post random folks on your list too
In all seriousness the idea of this list is to be controlled by myself for now and a very small number of trusted moderators in the future
This would not be a publicly alterable list and if i do open it up to additions from other hosts it would be after reviewing server logs and even visiting their servers to make sure they are not a troll-hosted server.
i dont see anything in this particular list in this forum stating i can not post peoples ID's here but i will refrain from doing so here at the public forum until i hear from the moderator of this forum for clarification.
The list i will be creating will be only from my own server and only i will have access to any alterations/addition to this list so as to ensure quality and legitimacy.
The plan is to also show the server log attached to each name with explanations if the said player was primarily insulting, harassing, or just being an unpleasant person to other players.
Most people on my ban list are trolls who are clearly attempting or succeeded in damaging the sub or bailing the sub with all the fuel etc.
I only have two members on this list who were banned for either being unpleasant to other players to say the least or trying to alter the sub's wiring without telling anybody what they were doing and acting suspicious after asking them what their intent was.
Some ppl will argue that it'll be breaking this rule since there's the etc. thing
Steam ID's are not personal information but merely an identification number for this particular platform. There are no personal information I.E. address, personal names, numbers etc. This means the information posted can not identify the actual person behind the screen which a simple Steam ID does not.
If someone lists personal information in their steam account for the public's viewing then i would argue its still not a violation because that individual chose to list these details in a public-view format and my listing their steam identification numbers does not directly list any personal information.
The logic is if steam id's are considered personal information then VAC, Friends list and even these forums themselves where we can all see each-other's accounts would be in violation
I would like to hear from a moderator on this as i am curious on the specifics.

So a dictatorship? Well go on with your 1984 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but my freedom of speech says ♥♥♥♥ you.
Once again, here is my advice: communicate! Communication is key to a crew's cohesion. When you talk with other players regularly in-game, you get to know them, you can quickly become friends or you can easily spot trolls/griefers ( they are rather silent, don't contribute much, walk around suspiciously ). Remember that they are 99% of the time acting alone and that you have an entire crew on your side. I think veteran Barotrauma players will agree with me that when you have a solid crew with great, constant communication, griefers are less deadly than a crawler nest in this game.
