Report a translation problem
If 5 output slots are empty, then you should have gotten decon materials once deconstruction completed. Make sure you have no bots nearby (they shouldn't be able to pick those items, but still). If items can't be placed in slots, they will fall to the floor.
You also may put in a container in one of those slots, then deconstructor will try to put in resulting items inside the container.
I'm playing on a custom sub where the creator had to shrink down the fabricator and deconstructer (small sub) I wonder if that might produce some kind of bug. Definitely got nothing out of those materials though :/

So it spits you stuff into them, occasionally onto the floor too.
The fabricator might also be linked to the storage locker allowing you to fabricate items without having to put the items into the fabricator yourself. Its a very useful feature.
