Question about Electrical Discharge
So, I was testing this weapon and it seems like, I can't make it work on my sub I'm making.

My issue is that, ED does not want to cover the sub's outer properly, when the Range is changed in properties.
I tried on Dugong, a default ship, and it works just fine there. When you change Range to 5000 on Dugong, ED covers your whole hull and shocks targets like 10 meters away of the hull.

When I do the same on my sub, ED only shocks toward LEFT, not sending shock to right, and its shock range is hilariously little or not even working (not shocking at all).

Some testing results. Green is a working Shock, while red is just effect without doing anything:

What do I miss here? I even need to be close to the hull to get shocked, while with Duging's 5000, I got shocked far-far away.
(The lower ED is not connected to anything, can be ignored)

I have not played with the ED at all, but I would advise you to look closely at all of the vanilla subs that have it, especially ones that are closest in size to yours. Pay particular attention to any mechanism that ensures the discharge flows over the entire hull, including shape and surface area.

Yes, I just did that...
Result is, Dugong is superier with ED, as, with the setting 5000, it can shock any living around it in 10m or so radius, and I have no idea how.
Tried other subs as well, like Orca.. It had the same issue as my own sub.

At the end, I "fixed" the issue with using both discharge on my sub, covering the whole hull in a very weird way...

I have no idea why it does this, but it works like that.

You gotta remember that dugong is a very small ship and in my opinion its a good thing that the electrical discharge coils dont cover the whole ship
It allows you to make it stun creatures only in certain areas and its kinda op when you make it stun everything around the ship

And i had similar issue on my sub and i think it happens when hull parts overlap each other but i might be wrong

Just put coils in dead zones and you should be fine even with not very large range

is this weapon worth the power consumption?
also, does it just stun or kill bad guys? things like the monsters, not humans.

its also for me hard to know when to trigger it.

Yes it is worth the power, which is very little really.
It stuns and deals a bit of damage.
Handy under the sub, they drift down so the guns can fire on them.
Handy on top so you can move the sub so the guns can fire on them.
Or just use it to stun and run.

With a default supercapacitor at max charge rate you can discharge every 14 seconds or so.
The default supercapacitor max recharge rate is 20 and the default battery has a max recharge of 500.

At full charge the supercapacitor can fire off twice without recharging.

Not really hard to time the trigger, It passes along the hull and has a small range from the hull so you don't have to wait until it is on the hull.

Probably one of the best tool in your subs aresenal. you can stun anything smaller than a bone thresher and repeated shocks will stunlock and kill whatever it is if your too lazy to pilot the target into a gun. Does a really good job against those spine bastards in particular. If you want to learn to use them the big rig has a window and searchlight watching it's top coil which lets you practice with them pretty easily as a captain at the helm.
