endworm at the begining

so i started new campaign with my friend and at very firsy location we were attacked by endworm. Is this bug or it normally spawns at evry location. Sorry for my English. (i also have 3 screenshots from that encounter). (i got the answer so dont post comments pls)

Endworms are meant to only spawn in the abyss. So if you descended through some crack in the walls then it's as intended. If not it's probably a bug.

Got one on a new campaign one month ago. I was still in the cold caverns, goofing around while showing the game to a friend of mine. One of the mission was to kill a hammerhead and activate a beacon. This time, I wanted to activate all the beacons on the whole map.

So uh, how to tell this... Imagine my (and his) surprise when an endworm swept the hammerhead in front of me before pummelling a Humpback by his top, only shootable with a coilgun with stock ammo and absolutely no upgrades to resist the pressure of the abyss it came from...

"Wait a minute, Phyrys... Was that- Was that normal ?"

It's perfectly normal, it happens if you go into the abyss,

Endworms don't spawn where hammerheads spawn.

Unless the hammerhead swam into the abyss, or it followed them down. Endworms are also AI tagged to never leave the abyss, so if you're being attacked by one then you are in the abyss.

"I was in the cold caverns" and "I could not have been in the abyss" are two separate statements that do not correlate.

Same thing happened to me with a Charybdis. Got attacked by a crawler swarm on the first mission, it put enough holes in our sub to sink us into a convenient opening into the abyss.

pretty sure game should be fixed to generate those swarms, pirates ect. outside abyss hole. Maybe lock the hole with breakable ice too

Abyss monsters can show up everywhere where a gap to the abyss exists. Afaik thats possible in every biome past the first one. So, seems to work as intended.

this happened when i played coop with friend , start of the game , we went to second station just transport , we not even went below 1900 depth where worm scraped across the hull like 40 seconds after leaving the station , that was before the "big update we had"

ofc we died , sub plumeted down while half or hull was just gone , we got crushed when sub went deep in dive to abbyss

Some maps can spawn with no way between stops without venturing into the abyss, I think, so yes you can encounter endwords and charybdis anywhere. You can, in theory, backtrack if a map would force you into the abyss and instead try to take another route on the world map though, I think.

First biome also seem to have such holes...
