How in Gods name, do you bring back & sell a Thermal Artifact!?
Seriously, the Thermal artifact can go get F****.
Ibe tried about 5 times now. After about the 3rd try, i managed to get it to the station without torching the sub by keeping it in the airlock. Then as i picked it up and boarded the station, the damn thing made some pipes blow up, turning me into BBQ, along with a couple of station guys.
Last try, it also caused something to blow up in the station. Killing me (and several others) instantly before i even saw the trade guy.

So how do you actually get to carry & sell a Thermal artifact?
Any tips?

You are usually mean't to just bring these artifacts to the deconstructor.
Break them down and sell the resulting materials.

Some artifacts can be brought raw to a merchant and sold while other volatile artifacts cannot just be simply brought onto a station to be sold.

Youre probably right. I have managed to bring back Faraday, Psychosis, and Nasonov artifacts and sell them. But i simply cannot find a way to bring this damn thermal thing back.
Still, i keep thinking "There MUST be a way!" lol

I guess that there isnt really much point in collecting the thermal ones? what would i get in return for the EXTREME hazzard of bringing that thing onboard and carrying it to the desconstructor? a few materials? Are they at least VERY expensive materials i could sell for a good profit?
There are also some subs better at handling thermal artifacts then others, some have exterior storage compartments that can be flooded, some have flood switches on airlockes. Some even have a airlock near a containment room near a decon.

Its not just having it onboard the sub, ibe managed to do it. But the minute you bring it to the station, everything on the station starts to blow up and kill you.

Along those lines, I think deconstructing them then selling the mats might be the better option. I would have zero clue how to get a thermal to a trader without causing bad things to happen.

I've heard of people managing to sell it before it got nerfed (It used to just constantly start a fire the whole time it was out of water) but I think it was mostly done for the novelty of saying they did it rather than for the profit of selling it. Personally I usually just ignore thermal artifacts unless I happen to find a sky artifact at the same time (You can safely bring the sky and thermal on board together because the sky will suck all the air out to prevent a fire from the thermal, just be sure to keep diving suits/diving masks on).

The benefit of deconstructing a thermal artifact is it will give you Incendium bars, which you can use to make IC-4 blocks (C4 that has significant organic damage and low structural damage), Incendium Grenades (think napalm), and my favourite thing, Incendium Fuel Tanks. I don't know exactly how much Incendium bars sell for because I almost always use them to make Fuel Tanks. You can put Incendium Fuel Tanks into your welding guns to have them last nearly twice as long!

Very interested in the IC-4 i will give it a shot!
Thanks for your help!

Last time I was on a server with a mission to bring a thermal artifact back, we just chucked it in the ballast and had people watch with fire extinguishers. Seemed to work well enough, but I wasn't one of the people really watching what they were doing.

It does sound like a good idea, having some people "escorting" you with extinguishers while you move it arround. But i only do Single player. The bots cant be asked to do such things :(

Also, i guess that getting it as part of the mission it would be easier, as you only have to put it on the sub to complete the mission. But trying to keep it on the sub, and then getting it onboard the station to sell it, thats a different story! xD

Last night i managed to recover and sell one of the "Alien Sky" "Sky Alien" (or whatever their name is) ones, the ones that suck all the oxigen from the sub.
I just locked it up on the airlock, and then used a breathing mask to move it arround to the station to the trade guy. It worked!
But i guess that damn "Thermal" thing will remain the ONLY artifact ibe never managed to collect & sell.
...
Untill i come up with another idea, (or blow myself up again trying!) LOL

To complete the mission, you need to bring it back to a station, not just bring it on board. Also specifically put in in the ballast, because that's usually enough to submerge the artifact. The fire extinguishers were just for when the sub ascended for too long and the fire was able to restart and spread out of the ballast.

I stand corrected! youre right. you do have to bring it back. I was confusing the artifact missions with the shipwreck ones. Where you only have to bring the ship log onboard your sub.

i remember the days where the thermal artifact was nigh impossible. it uses to continually produce fire. the qorst part about that was you usually got it from outside in the water, meaning you had to have a diving suit on, meaning you had highly explosive ozygen on you
I've clearly been very lucky then. I've been delivering these to stations over and over. Nothing special, I just snatch it run through the station
