I'm doing a wreck salvage mission and I'm 50/50 if I should go to the next station (which makes sense) or return to the station where I got the quest because a) It kind of says so and b) I remember a negative review somewhere saying the dude failed the quest because he went to the next station instead of returning. Could a smart person tell me the way to go?

You can go to either location, it doesn't matter.

After finishing a mission you can indeed go to either Station/Natural Formation to finish the mission and get your money.
