Wreck Salvage Locked Cabinets?
I was diving a wreck, Kastrull I believe, and have looked over every corner of the ship, but can't find the logbooks. The only place I have left is a locked steel cabinet that I have no idea how to access. I can't crowbar my way in, the ID cards don't let me unlock it, and I don't know what else I can try. Anyone else have this issue and has anyone found a way to overcome it?

Its posibbly a bug but i dont think so maybe you missed one body or you forgot to check one room if you cant find it use hand sonar sonars show exact location of logbooks that might help you and also sometimes thete are lockers that cant be opened at all

Usually you will need to find the captain or a security guard's corpse and get their ID card. If you have it in your inventory bar it should let you open the locked cabinet. That being said I think I have come across this before where nobody has the ID card needed to open it. I don't think I've found the logbook in the locked cabinets before but I may be mistaken.

There is a wreck that has a weird platform extending from a door to the outside on the bottom right. At the end of the platform is a lone cabinet, usually the logbook is in there if that is the wreck you are going through. As jacket said, you can use the handheld sonar to get a better idea of the exact location of the log book.

That cabinet you mentioned ended up being it. Still never got the locked cabinet opened up but it didn't matter. Sonar did help me figure out that there was in fact a weird door there that I just smoothbrained my way past.

if it's true that the locked cabinet needs a captain or security then why can't myself open then EVEN WHEN I DID FIND THE ID CARD NEEDED?

Secure steel cabinets in wrecks can be opened with security officer or captain's id card, toxic medical cabinet with captain and medic's id card. However, there's a third variant: Looks like secure steel cabinet, but has bright red gun symbol next to / below it. Those can be opened with another id card hidden on the wreck itself, in another storage container with the same red gun symbol. So far, I've found them in air vents at the bottom left.

Only the Kastrull wreck and the "nameless" wreck that isn't based on any current sub have sec cabs. The one with red gun label markings is the nameless one.

The secure cabinet on the nameless "Wreck1" should still be possible to open with the wreck captain or security ID, while the ID hidden in the marked vent is an extra. However, there are only three spawn points for human corpses in that "Wreck1", so the extra ID can often be the fastest way to grab the sec cab.

The wrecked toxin cabinet on Kastrull doesn't seem to have ID restriction, and none of the other wrecks seem to have toxic cabinets or other secure containers.
