How can I calculate how much oxygen the generator needs to output?
There seems to be no readout in the sub editor for this, has anyone experimented to find a reasonable estimate? The Humpback is set at 400 I think, but I have no idea how they came to that value based on the hull volumes.

Humans consume around 7 oxygen per some unit of time and the generator distributes it equally between all vents. So if you have 10 vents and generator is set to 400 it will distribute around 40 units of oxygen per unit of time on each vent.
How much you need depends on what will be the most crowded area and how crowded it will be. Basically how many crew members you recommended.

So the default output of an oxygen generator seems ludicrously high, was it something like 4,000? I think the Humpback is set at 400, my sub is smaller than the Humpback and can easily be crewed by six people (probably a sensible maximum, unless we want to carry a few commandos or passengers), I think there are 6 vents. I set it to 350 I think, but not really knowing what the unit of time is or how fast the oxygen distribution happens to the vents, it's kinda vague guesswork, 350 might be too much but I don't suppose it matters, so long as it's not too little. Using the Humpback as a benchmark, I set the power requirement to 900 instead of 1,000.

If there are any shortcomings you'll see them when you playtest the submarine, i usually do a couple of missions with whatever i make and what issues pop up i fix them. The insanely high values make sure the vents can pump enough oxygen no matter how many people are in a room, you can just add another vent in there, sure it will lower the output of all the others but will allow more people to stay in one room or just do the simpler thing and raise the output on the oxygen generator. You can also take into account the new genetic materials that enhance your humans in exchange for some downsides. Tiger threasher's that lower your oxygen use (up to 100% less used oxygen) in exchange for what i belive was getting knocked out in a fight easier.
