Big power usage
So, everything was working, but when i docked to abandoned station my ship started to use around 9999 KW (then 10999 KW), and my ship blacked out. Idk what happened, but now my nuclear reactor cant even produse 1 kw ( i already tried normal power cells and thorium cells ) Any ideas what happened? ( I use "APO-4A Saber" )
Before that i removed alien plants in ballasts, but i don't think that did something

Forgot to mention, I can't even move settings in reactor, It just moves them in their original positions (on zero)
where you in multiplayer? cuz likely someome played with your cables

I was in campaign with my friend, and all wires are blocked on this sub

then its a stupid sub.

ok

Power might have been hooked up to the abandoned stations docking hatch, so when you docked, your reactor tried to ramp up its output to match the load that was just put onto your grid.

If your reactor is stuck at 0 output after resolving this, remove any wires automating fission rate and/or turbine output. The issue has to be found in wiring somewhere assuming all devices aren't configured strangely.

If you still can't fix things, you may have encountered a bug with reactor values breaking outside of parameters or similar.

yea, my reactor tried to power the station up and i understood what prevented me from toching sliders in reactor. My sub (APO-4A Saber) had logistics, that were trying to control power sliders, and the were kinda broke...

What's your avarege power load on the sub? If it's around 4-6k while traveling and it jumper up to over 10k after docking then your reactor is overburdened and all your power is going into said station. If you can, disconnect from the outpost, this should fix it, also check if something in your sub isn't trying to go full power, like an engine.

yea, it was the station, i was kinda scared to disconnect from outpost considering you can't load saves, and my ship was blacked out

Thank you all for your help, I appreciate it :)

This is interesting as it's almost exactly what I saw on a sub the other day in a multiplayer session, upon docking with a station (and after loading the station) all of the junction boxes would either break or burst into flames. I haven't experienced this on any of the vanilla subs that have power wired to the docking hatch so I'm wondering what the difference is here - how can one prevent a high load from a docked station from drawing too much power from the sub's reactor?

I had an idea today to automatically shutdown the sub reactor upon docking, which seems to be a common thing to do anyway, whether this would save the junction boxes or not would depend on how the game times the signals I suppose. I try to develop my own sub without just copying other's work, if that means I end up developing the same systems as others and re-inventing the wheel then so be it, all part of the fun!

Shutdown of your own reactor may not be sufficient if the issue is coming from the reactor on the station itself supplying too much power when docked. Also, it makes shuttles docking to you a bit of a hazard if not controlled properly. I'd rather be inclined to wire power through a relay (with a large max power value) only supplying power in from your sub's hatch, and not power out to the hatch.

If you'd still want to power stations or shuttles that dock to you, then I'd also use an outbound relay with a toggle connected to the sub's docking hatch or similar.

I wasn't aware that this was possible - to only allow power to go in one direction. How is that achieved?
