Is there a guide for farming at all? Where do I find it?

I don't even know what fruits do except making a mess or how to start growing them heh.

Found a guide but on different language...

this helped me at least understand what the plants do

They're a pain in the rear. For what they do it's not worth the hazard.

The only safe solution seems to be a series of platforms to catch the fruit as it falls, looks totally unlike a submarine and more like a game exploit of sorts (as it negates the risk and danger of farming pomegranades).

I can make a mod that remove the pomegranade explosion if you want

Where's the fun in that, honestly? Might as well just go into the console and use cheat commands.

That just seems kinda cheap

I suppose you could have a room set to be flooded slightly and plant pomegrenades above the water. You'd have to manually pump it during a leak but it should work.
For rooms I'd probably go with...
Humpback - Fabrication bay
Remora - Dive locker
Berillia -Mid ballast
Dugong - Fab bay...

Imprison some bots in there, remove their IDs so they can't leave, and then stick them on "extinguish fires" duty while also putting like 10 fire extinguishers in the room.

It's not slave labour if you paid for their service, remember that.

Find a small room on the sub that contains a small pump, ideally one people don't go through often. Wire up a memory component to the pump's set_targetlevel and remove the others to maintain a very small amount of water on the floor of this room, try -90 or -80 (5-10%). If the planter is on the floor you want to aim to have the water go to just below the green label, any more and it'll hurt the plant. When the mutated poms fall onto the water they won't explode. Easy farm.

I tried with keeping some water on floor but that didnt work out for me, maybe it wasnt enough. And sprinklers didnt help either.

Either not enough water or some of the plant was growing through the door and dropping them in the other room, or onto some other surface that wasn't covered by water. Unless they patched this out, it always worked for me before.

On the subject of sprinklers, that should be feasible to do without mods, just have a narrow hull probably between floors with duct blocks that only open when a fire is detected (i.e. smoke detector). No doubt this has already been done and I'm just late to the party as usual.
