Humans! their biology is weird!

Best designed is probably thalamus. Moloch that takes up half the screen looks scary. Hammerheads have scary pushing power.

Edit: I only have 2 days of experience so this is w/e

My friend spawned a legacy Mantis inside a massive sub. It’s so terrifying to watch it smash everything in its way to get to you.

Design-wise the husks and plant-infected subs are pretty cool

No love for the fractal guardians, yet they gave me some of the biggest/greatest jumpscares so far. Their advantage ( in terms of scare effect ) is that they are in alien ruins, in total darkness, and since there are many rooms in a ruin, you never know when you'll encounter them.

Also, when a hammerhead attacks you while you're in a sub, it's not scary ( unless you're new ). But when one attacks you while you're OUTSIDE of the sub, trust me, it's scary as hell. Only then do you realize how fast they can be. Same for threshers, but threshers are noisier ( some might say that hearing them makes things scarier though ).

Husks might be scary when you are in total darkness and you don't exactly know where they are, but since they are rather slow and easy to kill, they don't scare me much now. I'd rather say they bring some kind of tension. Maybe a "uber-husk" would be much scarier... Like a bigger husk, perhaps faster while walking, more adept at swimming and with more hit points. Now that would be scary.

Mudraptors of course still deserve the #1 spot on the podium. Opening a door and realizing a mudraptor broke in and is now running towards you still brings little girl screams out of me.

They are rather rare, your game's difficulty must be a certain level for them to spawn in ruins, and they are usually only seen in ruins unless they somehow find a way out. They will only do that if players are nearby so they can attack them.

about fractal guardians personally I just bring medical scanner, it shows you lifesignals of monsters so you can basically see enemies in complete darkness, extremely usefull when going outside, would recommend getting spare ones from medical if going outside or being a security

Fractal guardians aren't really a threat if you have a baton and a knife. They also lack the factor of rushing in your face and eating you if you die. They could really use a buff like shocking the water, stunning people using psionics, heating up the water and so on.

Agreed! I love the idea of Husks! Parasites that infest humans and take over their nervous system is such a cool idea, and husks especially are SO scary... I hope they get expanded on! I'd love to see husks that are like parasitic egg carriers that are all bloated up, or like barnicalized crew members that didn't get in to diving suits... and of course husks that have like mutated parisitic limbs to increase their movement speed

I love looking through old dilapidated subs because they are so dark and add so much tension but agreed, the husks are so easy to avoid... especially if/when you just park your submarine right next to the hatch so they funnel out and get chewed up by machine gun fire which is really corny :(
