Materials like sodium, magnesium and potassium are violently reactive with water, which cause them to explode.
Also stored explosive materials in containers or storage lockers/cabinets will not like to be exposed to explosions (for standard explosives) or water (for water reactive materials), causing a deadly chain reaction...
Also remember that fully loaded oxygen tanks and welding fuel tanks will explode when hit by an explosion, so if your character survives explosion, you will likely have empty oxygen tanks and fuel tanks now. The tanks however will not break because of it.
On a side note, don't you people love when stuff explodes? It's one of the underestimated details about Baro IMO. Nobody ever talks about explosions but when I hear a deflagration, see people blown away by the sheer force of it and the erupting chaos that follows right behind, I can't help but smile.
