Is there a way to buy CUSTOM submarines AFTER you start the campaign?

As the title says. I tried to buy a custom submarine at the station but I could only buy default ones.
Am I missing something or is it impossible, and if so do the devs plan on allowing it in the future?

You should be able to, but most custom subs currently don't have a class defined (e.g. Attack, Cargo) and cannot be bought in-game.
You can do this yourself, by opening the desired sub in the sub editor, and assigning a class in the save menu, and just saving it again.

When you save a custom submarine you can select the class for it.
If there is no way to purchase it sucks, because playing solo without custom submarine becomes quite impossible when the game gets hard. And so the player is stuck with a 6k custom sub.

In singleplayer you can. In multiplayer, you need to decompress and edit the save file for that.

@Kaillera: are you sure? When I talk to the guy that sells subs at the station all I see are default subs? do different stations sell different subs? From my experience they all sell the same subs and they are all default subs.

At least I believed it did when I had to enable my own sub from settings because I forgot to half way through the campaign when I was gonna buy it.

In multiplayer, you need to assign them classes and mark them as usable in campaign.
In single player, I'd say you need to assign them cost and class if you want them usable.

I was just fixing multiplayer subs earlier today as I don't intend to play SP.

I confirm that in this way that you can load a normal boat edit it and save it under new name -> its buyable at some stations. ( yes different stations have different boats in my campaign so far)
I choose the dugong ship and added a deconstructor, then i was able to buy the new version normaly on a station.


BUT:
I have a question here: How get i rid of the not-more-used boats in my list ?
any ideas ?

Thank you guys, I can confirm different stations sell different subs, I just found one that sells all my custom subs.
By the way to be clear I've been only playing single player, so all I say in this post is about single player.
Just out of curiosity have you noticed that the price of a custom sub is based mainly on it's size?
You can put in tons of supplies, nuclear reactors (not that you would need more then one anyway) and the price barely changes. However if you increase the size of the sub the price goes up significantly.
@derboss : I haven't got that far yet. It looks like you can't sell the old sub, but will update once i get there, if I find a way.
