This game is too hard even on 0% difficulty
Hi, i'm triying to play a campaing with a friend (so only two persons) and i want to learn the mechanics of the game before to try on harder difficulties. But we dont even survive missions in a 0% difficulty campaing.

Usually a monster reach the submarina, in seconds we have water leaks, submarine start to sink and everything is lost in a matter so suddenly that we felt as we have no chances to do anything. Very frustrating

I think that 0% difficulty should be more forgiving, the hull should last more, missions should grant more money, supplies cost less, less or almost no enemies, etc...

If you think that 0% is very easy, i think that should be even easier. If that prevents to complete a ful campaing, its a fair trade off.

Please allow a more smooth start to the noobs as we, because i think that i will enjoy the game very much, if the game allows it

Yes, we know the controls and how to operate the sub. It's the enemies what are crushing us

You do have a couple of NPCs to help, right?

Also, unless there's no ice beneath you you can allways just... sink. Until you hit the ground. And then deal with the hostile, patch up the submarine, and keep going.

We have only one assistant. The only crew member we can afford at the start of the campaing. And it's not very helpfull with the leaks we order he to fix

Hm, I have no issues dealing with monsters at 1% difficulty in the SP-campaign, since the bots are good at aiming. Are MP-campaigns harder by default?

Though you should have at least 1 NPC manning the guns, while one of you two concentrates on repairing equipment. Also, if a monster attacks your uncovered side, use that electric discharge-thingy. It stuns monsters to buy you time to line up for a better shot.

Yea, three guys seems... not that much. In Single-player you start out with that (mechanic, eletrical engineer, captain), but with the money to hire an assistant - enough to man the reactor (electrical engineer), fix things/leaks (mechanic), steer (captain), and man one of the weapons (assistant). That's usually enough, though a crew of 5 (or even 6) helps.

Three people are enough for the beginning, it's the composition that counts.

The SP-campaign, as mentioned, starts out with a perfectly fine crew. It involves some managing though as the mechanic and engineer will have to work double-duty. The engineer will also fix electric equipment while leaving the reactor in automatic-mode, and the mechanic will repair mechanical stuff and man the guns. Small leaks can be ignored until the monsters are dead and the Dugong is slow and nimble enough to allow the captain to help in a hurry.

It would be nice to know what classes you're playing as currently. If your starting composition is, frankly, bad, like a medic and security officer, then I simply suggest a restart until you have the crew from SP-mode.

If you're dying to monsters getting inside I'd recommend learning how to combat them. Have a toolbox on you for meds and a toolbox for weapons. Use stun batons and stun guns for larger threats such as raptors before you kill them. Use steroids before you deal with threats. Grenades are great for taking out a swarm in the ballast... There are several ways to prepare for confrontation, experiment.

As others correctly pointed out, the SP starts with 3 crew members already. The most important too. An Assistant is how do i say it... mostly useless due to the exteremely low starting skills. Add to that the difficulty of increasing certain skills and you have a walking crawler bait. So better to just ignore hiring them IMO, at least at the beginning of the game unless you badly need someone to mann the guns.

I'd like to see additional system for training crew members, like a school system you pay for or something like books you can buy to not have to get shocked few bilion times until your skill is high enough to have a somewhat decent skill lvl.

P.s.
Most vanilla subs are quite hard to manage for newer players, are you using a custom made or vanilla sub ?

If you really can't handle monsters yet, you can manually disable them all somwhere in the lobby, not really sure how atm, but I can look at it if interested

I'm usually the captain, my friend is the mechanic and we order the assistant to manage the weapons. We are using now the custom sub "Sweet Pea", as the default sub has many blind spots. But the Sweet Pea is so small that any leak ends in a disaster.

The problem of the game it's not the difficulty, it's the learning curve. It doesn't explain what to do in a crisis management and it doesn´t allow time to learn it throught experimentation of two newbies. Two newbies in this game, but we have completed a lot of other complex games like Dark Souls, Factorio, Space Chem, Arma 3 campaing, built an interplanetary ship from scrach on Space Engineers, etc... to name games from different generes

The 0% difficulty campaing (i Insist: not any campaing: the 0% campaing) should be more permisive to allow to learn the basics. I think that restric the progression in that camping, or allow ir only in the first zones of the map it's a fair trade off

@ghazban_ogre Thanks for the offer, but i'm going to be unable to play for two months soon, also i'm from spain and the communications is going to be problematic becouse my bad spoken ( and written ) english

the game is terrible now because they buffed crawlers too much

I'm at about 17% difficulty missions on the campaign I think without maybe 15 or so bots I would have trouble keeping the sub i'm using from sinking. its probably going to take a substantial amount of luck for me to make it through a mission, although it is possible to farm back and forth missions in the easier areas I don't think it matters too much if you just did several missions back and forth until you have enough funds to stick a bot on every gun and have several of them doing menial tasks. I kinda charged ahead inward and yeah it gets hard to do single player. there are also ship upgrades likely worth farming money to buy some of those to make you able to take a hit or two.
