Why are there so many trolls?
Seriously curious on this. Even with no traitors on people like to troll, are some of you that bored and sad? I don't understand why a game like this suffers from trolls and immature people.

To answer the question from OP, most people will troll on your server because you're trying to play seriously and they want to annoy players/hosts who try enjoying the game this way. It is also funnier for them to enter a server that is somewhat organised and then wreck it, it gives people more pleasure. Other type of griefers is the ones that get bored mid-game and try to spice things up, altho tbh they overdo it a lot of times and end up just annoying others af.

Define trolls and immature people.

People that do the opposite of the game mode aka co-op just to cause issue and annoy people. People that join rewire, everything or throw things away just to screw the team over. Immature would be the kind of behaviour that you'd see in gmod, except sometimes you get some people doing that on this game.

I think thats kind of expected to be seen in any game like these that end up losing their really small dedicated community. This games been covered by a few youtubers now which ends up drawing in a large variety of people instead of the usual small hardcore dedicated crowd you would get from a game like this. id recommend you find some friends to play it with thats what I did personally but im not a big fan of coop with randoms.

Listen, I am a troll, and all i'm gonna say is, if you don't wanna be trolled, play with a group of friends. Public servers are a hellscape in terms of trolling. The reason there is so many trolls is because many youtubers who played this game griefed while playing. Thus, tons of their fans buy this game and grief servers.

So you copy youtubers? Nice to know people are as stupid and sad as they show themselves to be.
I play with friends but they are not always on.

turn off rewiring, traitor, etc. and take a look at the server log. There you can filter out who is doing what exactly, even if they are just putting something in a container(it's a lot of info, but don't worry you can filter). So to see if someone is a ♥♥♥♥ or not, just start a ''testmission'' and do a fast run with your current crew. If anyone is doing something you don't want him to, then you'll see it in the logs and can ban/kick him(you can also directly end a round through the menu, if something critical was already done). After that play campaign or whatever you want with the remaining crewmembers --> effort to play undisturbed about 5-10 minutes.

Truth to be told, this is what games makes fun. I wish traitors was a default. The game is pretty trivial even on hellish.
A random human factor that makes the game chaotic is fun. Building up trust with your crew should be part of the game.

I prefer working as a team and not having people become idiots just to stay alive.

@DisneysFanGirl, you are 100% right, playing cooperatively, even if the game is easy at some point is far funnier than doing chaos to spread chaos.

Actually, it's pretty difficult to find cooperative players to play with, because some isolate themself from the main community or just quit playing.

A little bit of human chaos "can" be fun when it's minimal and self contained, but overdoing it just ruin the experience. I personnaly found the vanilla game too easy, but i don't encourage people to griefing with the goal of "improving" the experience.

There is far more fun to have in a friendly crew than in a chaotic one.

personally I kinda agree but in that case traitors would have to behave like traitors, aka no, being a traitor doesnt mean you can shoot whoever you want and overload the reactor, then rewire every gun and pump on the ship. those things have nothing to do with traitor quests (asside from killing for liver quest but that is 1 quest). personally I think that while traitors are fun they should behave like traitors, do their specific quest and escape the ship, leaving traitor role for another soul
being a traitor is not a free griefing pass, its a role just as any other, it has its objectives and it may face some difficulties, but honestly if someone is rewiring stuff there is no reason not to kick/ban them, they are not doing traitor objectives, they are not playing their role, they are just a medic that takes all medical resources and refuses to heal people instead wanting to repair stuff, so basically a class that has exclusive access to some options in the game but refuses to actually engage

The legacy baro servers had a nice system which was basicly "Hey this guy did something he wasn't allowed to (eg. unwired reactor, set pumps to pour water in instead of out, etc.), you should do something about him" ~Server, seemed like a good system that could have a place here. Informing all players of someone's destructive ways early could help.

Also some of the servers had much better "rebel" instead of traitor. The main goal of that rebel was to kill everyone on the ship, but how they do it was all up to them (rebels were excused from the server tattling on them). Killing people was much harder since everyone was always looking for something to do and walking around the sub looking for any suspicious activity. Said rebel had to plan his strikes and stack odds against other players by first getting everything he needed to pull off the plan while not catching the attention of other crew members. Unless it was the nitroglycerin transport mission and he managed to get his hands on it before everyone else.

Because the game is too easy and nothing happens for 90% of any given mission. People generally don't co-operate if there's no issue that requires co-operation, i.e repairing a FUBAR'd submarine or taking out a swarm of bone threshers, so they sabotage the ship to liven things up a little.

This sounds kinda fun.
Traitors is stupid with the objectives. They are either too straight forward or too difficult to execute without having to cheese.

The idea of having a "rebel" that comes and his job is to kill everyone sound fun as hell.

This should be a mandatory part of the game - Having at least one rebel on the sub and the game should be balanced around that with an option to disable it and having it on as default. Coop becomes too easy after a while.

we have that already tho, its called griefers

You guys misunderstood to a degree, I was curious as to what drives people to be trolls in co-op servers when other servers have traitors enabled and let them run amok. You literally have games where you can be the d*ck you want to be but instead people go into co-op servers and try to ruin things only to most likely get kicked, rendering the effort to troll pointless unless the crew was new and had no clue what they were doing and couldn't fix the damage.

You make an effort to ruin co-op servers when you have servers that let you be traitors, why? Do you guys buy games just to get some quick laughs by annoying others? Even in pure co-op games people do such stuff, which then begs the question why the hell did you buy a co-op game if you want to be a lonely troll?

It's pathetic and sad for sure but its also really really idiotic.
