What causes junction boxes to wear down and how to avoid?
I'm making a submarine and i have 22 junction boxes in one room, the boxes with crucial things attached always burn up. Their overload voltage is 2v. Each box has 4 connections including power input

At second: Junction boxes have a chance to get damaged if you have way more energy output than you need for your net load.

Third: There should be an option on every machinery, or electrical device, which lets you adjust you the rate of wear off. I think you can set it to zero, if you want to. That should stop the automatically degrading of the stuff.

Actually, i think i found the culprit, it seems like it was a heating issue? Not sure- Okay. So here's what just happened as i was typing this. ALL of my junction boxes exploded at once haha damn, then another explosion. I had my reactor in the same hull as the junction boxes and i have less problems when they are in seperate rooms.

I think it may be cause of the overheating as well.

You can already set deterioration rate to 0 in the editor.
My boxes exploded after I crafted and put red fuel rod instead of default uranium, but reactor was on auto. I think auto is too slow and they stay overheated for too long.

one more question but do junction boxes fail if they are submerged?

i want to have deterioration :D
From what I know, they get damaged if they're underwater and working, if they're switch off they wont get damaged by water.

Yes, I was unprecise with my words. I know that it is already there. But I was not sure if it is really on EVERY single machine/device which is in the game. That was, what I was trying to say.

Okay so it turns out i have been overloading the system with the Large engine. I've put it so it's at 1/4th the stock speed and it's still fast and way better now. Also, i've added 6 capacitors with high recharge rate so that it's all smooth, also batteries too so i can start the engine without grinding my boxes xP
maybe you put too much things on too few junction boxes.
