Oh, how neat, little griefers complaining about optional anti-griefing mechanisms...

No, It's should stay, It helps finding griefers who always sabotage the ship or attack players when clearly they are not traitors. humiliation more like. I'd argue they'd need to evolve the anti-griefing system by also reducing karma for placing welding fuel in oxygen masks or suits And Messing with wiring by setting them on undesirable places. Though tone it down a bit when playing as a traitor to help maintain cover.

Space herpes is there to counter griefers and that how it should be, If you have troublemakers, Simple have security deal with them by stun batoning them and placing them in locked places so they won't be able to do anything, A much more effective outcome since this greatly would piss the griefers off and would force a disconnect if there's nothing they can do to kill themselves, Hell, Just laugh at them, Also works at angering them.

I understand where your coming from, and no im not a griefer (most times) but heres the issue. I see alot of times when people get it unfairly, like if a captain had forced a security or mech to kill someone else, they kinda have to ; Their the captain. Or when you are defending yourself when someone is trying to attack you, and if their coming at you and they didnt get a single hit to be logged than it counts as you killing them for no reason and you get space herpes. Im not saying that they should just remove it, but give it a very good update.

It doesn't matter a thing if you get herpes (but don't get kicked). If you are a nice person of good faith, you'll crew will see that, and will ignore your herpes until it goes away. You could even tell them.

Also... it's tempting to separate players into griefers and non-griefers, but in my experience it's rarely that clear. Often the thing that decides who was the 'griefer' and who was 'defending the crew' is decided by who's left alive.

If you want smooth skin at a server with strict settings, use cuffs - or leave security to keep the safety. And consider if it's really the psychotic captain you wanna' side with.

Thats basically what i think, but it gives you a bad rep and some people wont even believe you if you get space herpes. And its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nuisance to deal with, for killing one person in self defense; Great! You have space herpes for a good 5-10 minutes, and sometimes they dont believe you. But at the other time when someone gets killed unfairly and you cant identify the killer (obviously before the person who got killed comes back in the shuttle) if he runs away from the scene, unless boom space herpes. Also it would stop them from killing more people if they had a gun or were running away. It should just get modified and if not possible, than I really dont see the point of space herpes.

As far as I know, there are tons of customization options for the karma system. So it depends solely on the servers admin to adjust it properly.
Rokvach  [developer] Sep 6, 2019 @ 2:33am
The latest hotfix added (Came out last week), if someone does attack you, you have 120 seconds to retaliate, meaning in that time you won't lose any karma if you attack and even kill the person who attacked you first.

This hotfix also added that the karma you receive from attacking someone depends of the persons karma, so if that persons karma is low who you want to attack the karma impact is measured depending how low their karma is.

In a future update there is also going to be a server side option to reset karma between rounds.

But as I have said before, what happens if they are coming to attack you and you kill them before you lay a hit? Boom space herpes, what happens if they are in the mist of destroying a generator and you kill them? Boom space herpes.
how about you don't kill them and just report them to security?

i think this new system looks similar to laws like state, where things make sense and protect everyone from everything.

it makes sense to not be able to kill everyone you think is sabotaging the mission, after all, security is on the ship for that, realisticly speaking, people that would try to sabotage the mission would be arrested, not blatanly murdered as if it was the wild wild west, so it makes sense that you are not able to do that.

the only problem i see is that videogame wise this is expecting alot of behaviur from its playerbase, but it is doable, so i don't really see much of a problem with its implementation.

if someone is trying to attack you, and you have to kill them in self defense, either run away and report them to security, or you have to let him atack you at least once, because then it is self defense, its that simple, just like real life.

In real life, if you let someone attack you first, you may be dead, because of that.
A single hit directly in the face can knock you out for a few seconds. If they start kicking you in the face while you are lying unconscious (or after coming back to consciousness), you may become injured very heavily, with ease.
And if you are falling unluckily you may get your skull broken by the impact on the ground, when getting unconcious.

Just saying...

I think we can all see the karma system isn't perfect...do people really think mechanics get implemented perfectly first time? ....use common sense....I think lists of points of improvements needed would be more useful...
