Should I play Mel first?

Only played Portal 1 and 2 - I see there is a Portal Stories: Mel. Would you say I should play that or this first?

They're unrelated and I think Mel is harder.

mel is much more challenging than this, all the puzzles in this are on the easier side.
There is a reference to the AEGIS near the start but I think it's just a reference to mel, it doesn't play into the story at all.

I'd say Mel is easier. More in line with Portal2 puzzles.

I'd say it doesn't really matter. Both don't really relate to each other.

What #1&#2 said. If you're more like a beginner and less familiar with higher (workshop) difficulty, the order should be Revolution - Mel - Reloaded.
After all everyone of them tells its own story, I wouldn't worry about that.

Doesn't matter what order you play. All of them approach the story differently and don't relate to each other.

I only just saw this but it's when you first see Stirling, he says "The guardian and intrusion system doesn't like it when test subjects escape the chambers"

Mel is harder - most puzzles in Revolution are about the new mechanics that get introduced here most uses of them are straigth forward on most puzzles get not to complex.
Mel has harder puzzels with more original mechanics that get used in a more complex way
