If your certain you're running stable try capping the fps to 60 and start with mid/low settings and slowly raise them as you want. Read below if you want an explanation.
So before we start just capping the fps and seeing if it works is a lot faster then going thru all this other stuff.
A way to see if my solution will even help is to use msi afterburner and run the game for a while. At least like 10 mins so you can get a solid look at the graphs. Check the graph where your gpu usage is and then check the power limit and voltage limit and see where it's at. If your gpu is at 100% usage and your hitting the power limit often then your most likely taxing your gpu too hard. To be clear, the power limit has a value of either 0 or 1. It only triggers if your gpu is working way too hard or your psu isn't able to handle the load (Probably. There are exceptions like BIOS updates, etc.) Being on a laptop may make a difference, but I think this is basic guideline if you have issues running demanding games.
When I first tried to play this game there was some issues for me with a 1080ti and eventually it would crash to desktop with no error or anything just complete close. It would take some time for the symptoms to occur. Would play perfectly for 30ish+ mins, but then stuttering and eventually crash. Certain cut scenes would cause a crash within 30 seconds of it playing every time no matter when I tried to watch them. Turning on some overlays showed my fps was all over the place. Ranging from 150+ to 40's. Also I noticed my power to the gpu was capping out often and the usage was at a constant 100%.
Yes I know GPU's can handle 100% usage while playing, but that's if you have a perfect setup with great cooling airflow and a giant psu. I only have a mini 600w psu and to keep my m-itx steam box going strong I try not to overload the gpu with unnecessary work.
After capping the fps to 60 it never really gets close to 100% usage, runs buttery smooth no more stutters/crashes, my temps are significantly lower not just on the gpu and my PC doesn't sound like a jet engine when I'm trying to slay some demons.
And for half that price you can build a PC with better specs. a GTX 1080 Laptop is actually slower compared to the desktop. Higher clock speed doesn't say much. It will be slower regardless.
You just wasted 4K on a inferior product :P
thanks Herbalacious for the tips, had no idea about msi afterburner (New to pc master race!) but even watching some tutorials (Its a bit confusing) and setting your configurations game still runs at slow pace. I noticed the fps is around 25 (Even if I fix to 60) but none of my gpu/cpu are overworked to my knowledge. I took a few screen shots I can email or send you. Admitely dmc 5 is the heavies game on my pc right now, but I run overwatch, warframe, destiny 2 and apex legends without any problem. There must be some stupid configuration I am not following right.

Some screenshots if any kind and knowledgeable soul knows what to fix. From what little I know it does not seem anything is capping at 100%
Trust me the laptop was in no way inferior to a similarly spec'd PC. They don't make PCs with these things, hell you couldn't buy a standalone 4K G-Sync display when I bought that laptop. So unless you want to continue your ignorance, please stop.
No. Because you're claiming a laptop is better than a desktop. Which it clearly is not. I can build a system for half the Price, that is not only faster, but quiter, cooler, and the ability to upgrade it in the future. And you spend 4K on a laptop which can only swap out the RAM and HDD. And a few more years down the line, and it will be obselete. There goes 4K down the drain. Enjoy it while it last :P
Maybe you should have spended a little bit more money on a better GPU. The GTX 1050 is pretty much an entry GPU when it comes to gaming these days. Have you tried running the game at 720p and low settings???
They're lower binned GPU's. So they will always run slower compared to their GPU counter part. All though not as bad the previous generation Mobile GPU's, wich were up to 40% slower. that 15% isn't huge, but the difference will always be there. I can't understand why people think spending 4000 bucks on a laptop is justified. I would spend around 2000 max if i was shopping for a Laptop. a Desktop GPU wouldn't even fit inside a Laptop, so they have cut corners somewhere, to keep it in spec.
