How to prevent game from minimizing when clicking outside?

I have a second screen where I keep my notes for my games open. This game keeps minimizing everytime I click away to add notes or check my browser or anything. There's a "borderless" option in the menu but it doesn't seem like it's working. I tried using Borderless Gaming software but it's not working in this game. It has worked for me all the time except for this game. Any solution for this?

There's a solution, but keep in mind that even with it, the game will "freeze" when not in focus (but it won't minimize).

In-game change the screen mode to Windowed
Then in Steam right click the game, go to properties, click "Set Launch Options" and add in "-popupwindow".

I don't mind it "freezing" just as long as it's doesn't keep minimizing.

I play in Windowed mode, Borderless has never worked on this game, likely never will. Just play in a Window Mode slightly smaller than your screen resolution if you can.

It ruins the immersion for me if I play windowed, the first comment works, you should try it as well, if you like hehe

-popupwindow fix does not work. Even windowed with that set in the launch options it still continues to minimize. This has been an issue for years. How is it not fixed?

Popuwindow alone is not enough, you need to make the setting set to windowed.
If you are on Borderless (most likely if you have multiple monitor) the popupwindow will not work.

It need to restart the game as this is a launch option.
