Production from oven or furnace stops if you walk away. Is this normal?

Surprisingly, I couldn't find the answer to this online or on this forum. In fact, it looks like production is supposed to go on while you do something else. Is it normal for the player to have to sit for 2 1/2 minutes in real time for every bar of iron?

Production of oven and furnace is supposed to keep ticking down wherever the player is.
It even continue during cutscene.

Are you sure that a furnace doesn't produce it's expected 3 iron ingots per day if you stay far away from it?
For example start a new game, build a furnace put 3+ ingot to smelt and leave the game running while your character is far away. Then come back 15min later to see if the ingots have smelted.

If yes, then I would recommend to check your game files or see why that bug would be happening. (like any mod installed that may change this behaviour)

I would be happy to test to load your save on my end and see if the issue appears on my side in your save or if this only happen for you.

I will spend days doing work at the mines or in the dungeon or something in town and will return to many bars smelted or glass refined.
