Can't make gold or silver powder

The Wiki says I should be able to place a gold or silver nugget into an Alchemy Mill and get a bunch of powder for my Memory Tincture. However, neither appear as a selectable option when I open the Alchemy Mill interface. Other items do appear.

I looked into Clotho's inventory and she doesn't sell any, and I also can't seem to distill Golden Elixir or Silver Potion into their components if I buy any - which contain gold and silver powder respectively.

How are you meant to get these to progress the main quest? A random recipe? I have all the DLCs if that's at all relevant. Thanks in advance!

Have you researched gold and silver? A lot of items you can't break down without the knowledge. So you need to study basically everything in the game in order to actually use it. If there is ever a point where an ingredient doesn't want to be used, you probably need to study it.

That was it! I did unlock the tech but never thought to study the ore or the ingots. Thanks!
