Do trees regrow?

Just what it says. Do they regrow? I found an old thread from 2018, that said yes they do provided you dig up the roots, but nothing more.

Is that still a thing? Was it ever a thing? And if so, how long does it take for them to regrow?

Most trees regrow.
I never noted exactly how long, but it seems to take 1 week + 1 day (or 7 days), it might be a few mins off.

The trees that don't grow back are the dried ones and the big tree to the south of your yard.

If it appears dead, no. If it's absolutely massive, no. If it's a forever-sapling, no.

Otherwise, yes. It'll slowly regrow in stages, requiring several in-game days.

Trees in the graveyard also do not regrow.

Also, I'm almost certain you have to dig up stumps for normal trees to regrow.
For example, going south from your house you will see some trees and a bunch of stumps. If you dig it, new trees spawn there. I is a quite good pace for cutting trees since you can easily transport logs from there (by pushing a bunch of them at once).
