I cant make black ink?

I've got the alchemy workbench, even the second level one.

Graphite poweder + Water, nothing
Water + Graphite powder, nothing.

Craft button becomes a lighter shade, but I cannot click craft. The question mark above stays a question mark...

What am I doing wrong exactly?

Sounds like you may be using the tier 2 alchemy workbench in an attempt to craft a tier 1 recipe - gotta build and keep both workbenches if you want to craft from both recipe lists.

Also, your alt attempt seems impossible - the 2-3 slots shown when interacting with an alchemy workbench are each for a designated type of reagent; powder + solution + extract ... you shouldn't be able to put graphite powder in the solution slot. Either/or, the Graphite powder + Water is the recipe you want to use, but specifically at the AW1 - not the AW2.

Try another options like graphite + oil, some powder + water and so on - be a true alchemist

I was also using the aw1 just wasnt working. I also tried death powder and water but it was not working either.. Might have to reinstall perhaps

Are you modding the game? Verified integrity? You should not be able to put graphite powder in the second slot.

Graphite powder + water
Ash + oil
Death Powder + water

I was not able to I was only able to put water in that slot, all working once I reinstalled
