Clotho, unlocking tier 2 trade - what I'm missing?
The spooky season came, so we started, again, GK. And I have, again, a problem with Clotho.

I restored her memory with a health potion, then gradually bought tons of stuff from her (1 gold as an early reward in BSS is quite OP), a couple of apple trees, a handful of powders, alcohol drops...
But the progress bar counting towards unlocking tier II goods hasn't moved.
I bring her a silver pumpkin and bought a couple more things (three trees), no change. The bar is in the same place the first time I saw her.

On the other hand, my wife, who is playing at the same time, had no problems with it. She claims she bought some powders and glue... (The only difference is I play on linux).

I had a similar problem playing earlier. The progress bar was stuck, then suddenly everything opened.

So, I'm missing something to unlock the trade, or it is bugged? (I see similar threads going back to 2018).

Edit: just to be sure: I'm NOT talking about "will unlock tomorrow" message. The progress bar is still not full.

Edit 2: after a while (and much less trade) I saw the bar moved a bit. Selling her a bunch of alcohol drops moved it to the finish line. But I'm still bamboozled, what counts toward that progress? The number of items, their value, time(?)

The progress bar is linked to the total wealth of the NPC.
The more wealthy the NPC is, the fuller the bar will be.

Now buying and selling stuff will generate more wealth only if the NPC make a profit.

When you buy 1 item, you pay money and the NPC lose 1 item.
During the next night, the NPC will restock his missing items (or "sell" extra items)*
It cost them money to replenish their stock.

If you only buy 1 item, then the NPC is making no profits, as price increase/decrease based on supply. When buying 1 item only, the price you pay is exactly the price the NPC will pay to restock it.

In short if you want the bar to progress faster, you can either buy multiple of the same items, the higher the price you pay for an item, the more profits the NPC will do.
Or sell them a lot of items, the cheaper they pay you for an item, the more profits they will do on it.

You can also sell them a "blessing of commerce" obtained from a sermon of prosperity.
That blessing will raise the money of the NPC by around 30 silver

*NPC can only restock/sell a maximum number of items. If you buy all of their stock they won't be able to replenish all of it in 1 night.
The same apply when selling stuff, if you sell a lot, it will take time for the NPC to "sell" all of them.

P.S: Also if you added a mod that remove the inflation mechanic from the game, then NPC will not gain any progress, as they will never make any profit from buying/selling

Thanks, great explanation. Now it makes sense (even in the game, this is a tier of the trader, not his/her standing to the keeper, as I interpreted it before).
I was buying one powder of a type (so no increase) and three apple trees are overpaid only by 51 copper.
