Struggling with Complex Iron Parts

I'm at a point in my game where I need complex iron parts to progress (upgrading workbenches, upgrading the church, etc.) but I can't find a way to craft them. In the technology branch I have advanced smelting and advanced forging but in order to craft complex iron parts I need to use an upgraded anvil. To upgrade my anvil I need steel. To get steel I need to upgrade my furnace...which requires 8 complex iron parts. I've been trading nails and firewood with the blacksmith to try and unlock Tier II but I'm not making any progress.

you can craft them at Anvil 1 (first metal anvil, not the wooden one), anvil 1 only costs iron bars

+1 ... also, consider unlocking the Blacksmith perk if you haven't already, as it'll provide you with various extra metal products per craft, which includes complex parts.

Thanks, I was completely missing the anvil on the main crafting bit!
