Maggots
I was trying to make some room in my chests and I discovered that maggots provide energy... I was supper excited and decided to give them to my hungry hungry refugees... Perhaps that may be a little immoral as I eat cake and drink wine in front of them and they have water and maggots?
Anyone else discover any other neat little things?

Nice - knew Maggots gave energy, just didn't think the refugees would actually eat them. Similarly, if you like collecting Moths and Butterflys, you'll be picking up a bunch of Flowers, which also restore a small bit of energy on consumption - could try those at the camp. Plus, produce from the gardens (with the exception of wheat, hemp, and hops) can all be consumed raw - it's not like you're required to process them first.

Lastly, I'm not 100% sure how precisely the game handles this, but it states that each refugee needs 30 energy worth of food a day ... so, I make an effort to deliver easily obtained consumables that are a multiple of (or cleanly divisible by) 30.

15E; Carrot cutlets, Bread, etc.
30E; Sauerkraut, Grated beets, Croissants, etc.
