Benefit of Lantern Network?

So, I built the Lantern Network (asnd set up all Lanterns).

I wonder about one thing, however:
Are there any benefits to the lanterns (aside from looking good and shining at night?

(forexample: Do they, possibly, give your Zombies a movement bonus at night?

Don't be hatin on them bats, now. Excellent source of paper early-on, and can easily be ignored once you get some armor - they don't even disrupt the zombie porters.
