or at least they could have made it so that coal gets mined continously after the iron storage is full
However while arguably one zombie workstation is more or less usefull than another I still want to use every one proberly since the game offers them even if it would not be a big deal to do the work manually. And as of now you really can't use the coal mine
Honestly if you go to the coal deposit you can get like 500 coal in about 2 mins.
You simply get so much from doing it yourself per use that there isnt much point to have it automated
You have an infinite amount of fuel from trees. Put a zombie on a chooping duty:) Firewood is a very good fuel. One log gives 5*15 = 75 firewood, It is worth (in the furnace) ~42 coals. 5 logs > two stack of coal.
It is a nice source of fuel in the early game, and it become great when you get the free workforce.
It is... I have all of that.
500 can put over 1,000 in all of that each.
You are talking to someone who played the hell out of this game and made 'the perfect' graveyard by getting the max possible points you can have for a graveyard before the refugee camp came up which is around 1260.
I'm not making the argument of you dont need zombies doing things.
I am making the argument that a zombie mining coal would take forever to cover your needs. Even with 26 white skulls your zombie only operates at ~45% and them getting a few bits of coal vs you getting massive stacks wouldnt be something that is all that useful.
As someone said you can have zombies on logs and firewood crafting....
Why you would need this is beyond me since you can fill your entire bag and 3 universal bags of pure coal in just one day cycle and then not have to worry about coal for over a month in the game.
Yeah, pretty much this.
10 coal nets you 180 fuel.
You get like stacks of 30 per single use of mining.
So just doing it once gets you a whooping 540 fuel for ONE of your things.
Just doing it for a minute you can easily get 500 coal.
Which gives you a total of around 9000 fuel to use across whatever you need.... its just so easy to just grab the coal from the mining spot yourself and then never worry about it for another 10 hours of gameplay basically.
Correction, 26 Wskull zombie is 65%.
Also I'm willing to bet a zombie with a porter would easily supply coal for the keepers needs, most likely supply way faster than you can technically use it and much faster than gathering it yourself.
That being said, a coal mine isn't necessarily needed, but would be more efficient and helpful, to say the least.
Agreed, using firewood wouldn't work well, seeing as you have other stuff to make with that would and the zombie cutter and it's porter won't keep up with your needs.
Maybe if there was 2 cutters and 2 porters... then maybe they could keep up.
Nah. Most of the times you have more wood than you need. Expecially in the late game. Just put there something better than 12% zombie.
The difference between manually mining coal and making firewood is
you do not have to spend a day holding F near the mine :)
On the other hand mining coal gives some resources, for example is a main source of sulfur (and the only other source of life powder are Intestine).
