Stone Cross VS Gravestone 2?
They both add 3 to the decor.
But one takes complex parts and polished stone, where the other just takes a small amount of normal stone.

Is there some other hiden factor to consider?

No, simply a different aesthetic choice.

ok, thanks for letting me know.

Indeed. I only ever go for the easiest choice, considering the bonsues are identical. This happens with other teir stones, too.

You run into this kind of situation a few times, including when comparing the best headstone, the Angel and Reaper statues, which both give +7 decor.
It just comes down to a matter of personal choice, and whether you want everything to look the same, or if you want some variety or patterning to how you decorate.
Or if you just want the ones that are less of a hassle, material-wise.

gravestone 2 is superior in every single way, the literal only use for stone cross is to waste more materials building an equal quality headstone which can't be recycled later like gravestone 2.

I would craft every 'useless' graveyard decoration at least once nonetheless to research it. Especially the high tier decos give a real f***-load of blue orbs. And after that you can place them anyway as a bonus. I think it's really worth the extra/better materials

for research yeah, obviously once, but after that it gives the same GY rating, costs more and can't have it's materials reclaimed, it is inferior, believe it or not.

the alternate gives blue points as well, neither give many.

Just another sign of a poorly planned and poorly designed game rushed out of early access to cash in.
