How do you earn 20 gold?
The only quest I have problems is that bucrocy ♥♥♥♥ of paying 20 gold. How do you earn that much of money, im talking in the base game, without the tavern.

Sermons. Upgrade your church and graveyard and craft Combo prayer for faith AND money. It takes a while but it is the best income without DLC. Selling crop crates with the merchant is another way to make decent cash. BTW: I don't like the economy in GK.

Just selling crates with nails and parts. Very easy if you got a zombie at iron ore.

wine and zombie grown veggies for me

I warn you not to rush with paying the gold. I did (if you've got the DLC tavern it's even worse) and I had absolutely no need after that to explore the last interesting parts of the tech tree like marble stones and modifying corpses. It's a pity: I'm left with a half filled graveyard and only have stone not even marble- game finished. Nothing left to do. Don't make the same mistake.

Yeah as chaze said. I skipped to marble and didnt even touch the western side of the graveyard and made the 200 points to complete the game. I think 200 was a bit low. 400 may have been better, to force you to really look at making the best bodies, the marble graves etc otherwise you end up with a graveyard full of bodies and still not enough points.

To make 20 gold easilly(ish):
First, you need to make 53 silver to get trade license and rightful citizen paper - to open the trade office.
Open the quarry, mine a heap of coal and sell to the blacksmith.
Farm Beet, cabbage and carrots and sell to Farmer.
Farm Lentils, Onions and Pumpkins as well and start stocking these up. Do not farm any bronze crops. Go straight for silver seeds from the farmer.
Bury bodies even if they are bad ones that degrade your graveyard (you can dig them up later and cremate) and get money from the inn keeper for the burial certificates.
Unlock zombie woodcutter and get a couple of zombies making wood wedge etc, and you can sell wood stuff to one of the wood guys (woodcutter or tress if i remember rightly)

Once you have your trade license you can start making trade packs. Use pen and ink and paper to make flyers and you can have up to 10 packs per week. But just build this up, especially if you dont have the tech to make pen and ink yet (buy from Astrologer at the light house). theyre 1 silver 50 bu you easilly get a return on that investment.

Mine a heap of iron, and get your furnaces cooking iron ore. Get a zombie to make nails, simple iron parts and complex iron parts. More zombies on workbenches the better.
Start levelling alchemy and get to a point where you can make quality fertiiser 1 and 2. Plant the fertiliser 2 with silver seeds and you'll get gold seeds back. (you can then use normal peat to plant gold seeds and they'll stay that way)

Eventually get some zombie farms and upgrade them to silver and gold. (you need quality fertilisers to do this)
Before you know it, you'll be easilly sending 10 trade packs per week at gold level and getting over a gold for it.

Theres other ways too. You'll get a few weeks where you can sell beer and burgers at witch hill for burnings. You get money for this too. But gold standard stuff obviously. But those dont go on forever

Forget about church donations and prayers for donations etc. Go for faith prayers there. I read some guides that said once you have a gold prayer for donations, your money worries are over. Nah.. The merchant is your primary income.

If you have stranger sins DLC you can earn money from your tavern by crafting a heap of beer too.

You only need to make about 20 - 25 gold. Mainly for aristocrat papers and to shortcut some quests, like to get the Golden Apple. Maybe some gold jewlrey details from the merchant to save crafting them. Once you have that, there's nothing else to buy.
