What is the best way to get rid of crop waste?
It does not seem like anyone will buy it. I don't need that much of it to make peat or alchemy powders, so I resort to simply destroying most of it in inventory.

This is the response I got on a discord server for the game

you can either put it on composters to make fertilizer + maggots or sell each for 1 copper coin
I would recommend using it all for composters, since it makes 6 peats per 8 crop waste
yo ucan put peats on crops to make them drop more seeds and grow faster
thus removing the need to buy new seeds (temporaly)
or sell each peat for 2 copper coins, you do your stuff
you sell it either to the Farmer or to the gal that stays behind the cow farm at The Village
y'know, the one that lost one leg, one arm and one eye, who sells you peat

But from where you are getting that much of it? Zombie farms do not produce waste.
Wine making?

Anyway - best way to get rid of it is to destroy it :)
Don't know what answer you were waiting for.

Ok good point. I guess I will try to sell some of it. By the way where do you sell compost? And maggots, who can they be sold to?

I was hoping there is a way to sell the compost. I have not yet started using zombies, I only have the one you find trapped under rocks, and he is carrying crates to the merchant to sell. I heard that zombies will cause lag if you start using them in large numbers.

Crop Waste? - I'd just turn it into Peat, as it uses up very little of your time, and it's not particularly useful otherwise. It can be sold to the Shepherd (husband of the milk-maid, Rosa), but only for 1 copper each, and only a stack of (edit)x149(/edit) at a time before it de-values to 0 ...and then you have to wait a while before he's able to use that up. It can also be broken down into a powder, but there are two other more effective sources, a copper Pumpkin likely being the preferred choice.

Peat? - can not be sold (as far as I can tell - not to the Shepherd, Farmer, or Miller) or broken down via alchemy. A few useful building blueprints in the Graveyard need it, but otherwise just use it for fertilizer. After you get a couple stacks, you might as well use it on every plot of farm-land, even if you want to stack a better fertilizer on it after-the-fact.

Maggots? - can't be sold. Decent for alchemy, but the yellow flower is preferred; identical and more abundant. Good for fishing, but you probably won't need more than a single stack. After all that, might as well just consume them for energy - identical to berries.

You can sell crop waste (and peat) to the guy behind the cow farm.

10-15 zombies is not large numbers, but will really help you.
2 for tree-cutting, 4 for iron+coal, 2 for stone, 2 for marble, 3 for farms, 2 for crates.
2 for alchemy lab and 2 for some work in yard.

Hm, so I actually used 20 zombies and never experienced lags :)

Ok thats good to hear. Maybe it was patched since. I believed it because I get stuttering in the game anyway, like for 8 seconds after waking up and when running through the wheat farm. I figured this is due to the fact that the game uses the Unity engine, given how badly optimises it can be. I only started playing this game a week ago.

yeah ...the Shepherd ...which, he does buy-but-not-sell Crop Waste, and does sell Peat ...but he does not buy Peat, at least on PC, v1.122;

Correction; it's actually x149 units at 1 copper each, though I don't doubt it'll take an especially long while for him to use all that that up.

It's also based on your system. The game engine and some CPUs might not work very well, especially if the game is single threaded and isn't multi-core or multi-threaded to managing different workloads.

For instance AI stuff can be used on one thread or one Core and the rest of the game uses other core.

I have many waste pits and put the crop waste there and just eat the worms for enegy:) Great in the begining:)
Zombies don't cause problems, maybe with the newer patches but in general you need only a few for the tasks....now you can even use a lot of them to make almost everything leaving you breathing room to test things, have fun or do story missions. Here is what they do(they can do more but this is the basics)
