How do you get gold more easily?

Getting through mining is pretty random, and those golden crucians refuse to be caught. I keep getting pike instead. How can I get more gold?

What do you need gold for?
The most most reliable and easy way to get gold is to find it in the dungeon, there is a lot of gold, silver and diamonds there.
Mining is slow but with the all the gold perks you can get some, now even the zombies can find gold

You don't need it that bad. Just make the combo prayer and go a couple of weeks selling a few crates. You only need gold books for prayers and you can just make silver books using a silver cover and silver chapters. There is a chance you get a gold book and all the silver books you don't need can be sold.
