If you keep running out of energy...
Rush bee keeping, it can be harvested daily with no additional cost, once you have full bee hives, energy won't be a problem.

Cooking needs fuel, materials and farming need seeds, also energy and time to prepare food, collecting fuel and plant seeds. Those Investment adds up, while honey once established just needs very little energy and time to collect.

Probably talking about muffins I guess

I just make cakes, can be done early game and never need to worry about energy.

Making cakes is the best way I found in the beginning, just buy the ingredients for it from town. Then you can switch to wine after you make it.

Honey works great. You end up with a stack of the stuff that you really don't need, especially if you're gathering honeycomb for candles. No cooking or prep, no additional ingredients, just consume it and keep going.

its too slow and cost too much time but it is nice early game (although baking cakes is better id say), just set up a gold star grapeyard and make 100 gold star wine at once that each give 100 energy and a bunch of HP with the perk

Yeah wine is best food and pretty easy to get early on

Honey and baked apples are best source of energy.

Honey is fine if you have a full apiary. However, it takes a LONG time to get a full apiary up and running.
In fact it takes so much time, that it's now not really worth the trouble.

Best source of food is apple / berry ferment. Buy your saplings from the witch and juice them and then ferment them.
Bonus from this, is you have a ready source of alchemy alchohol.
It takes a little silver to buy the 12 apple saplings. I will try again with 12 berry bushes and see if that's better.
You get more apples/berries from your grown ones than from the map (15 apples from an apple tree on your property - I don't know how many berries, I didn't try yet).

Berry ferment gives more energy than apple ferment, but takes 25 berries to make a pail, wherease it takes 10 apples to make a pail of apple juice.

Only 4 berries from the bush. I thought it would give you 15, like apples, but no. It's just a waste of money.

just make wine. sell silver and bronze in the dead horse, and gold to the merchant. use the rest.

Cake and wine can both restore just about your whole energy bar. Cake is like 95 and I'm pretty sure gold wine is 100. (silver and bronze wine are like 80+) When I beat the game I had like 250+ gold wine just sitting in my trunks from just a few harvests.

Cake and wine aren't the best optoins.
You have more travel time to get to the wine, and you have to worry about seed quantity.
Sure most cases, you can break even, but not always. Then you have to buy the upkeep seeds and ensure you silver or gold fertlize your gold crop.

Cake requires the purchase of eggs and milk. Apples are home-grown, right there on your property, and you can make a lot of apple ferment.

Trust me - no don't trust me. Do it yourself. Sure you can't 'make money' but the point is, you're getting energy and not wasting more time.

It's about effiency. Yes it takes a little time to harvest the apples, but no more than walking up to the vinyard and dealing with the hassle.

Sure back in alpha wine was king. Now, it's really not the best.

When I finished the game I had over 150+ silver and gold seeds and I only bought them a few times. If you use gold fertilizer you will have a ridiculous amount of seeds in just a few harvests. You can make over 100 or 200 wine with one harvest and that can last you the rest of the game.

In my opinion and most others wine is the best way to restore your energy. Sure, the price tanks eventually if you are always selling them but I ended the game with an extra 10g so I had other ways of making money.

For cake the eggs and milk are super cheap and they make a lot of materials. I just bought eggs once a week until I started making wine. You need even less milk.

So apple ferment restores +13 energy and cake/wine restores +80 to +100, are you really trying to make an argument here? So 2-3 wine restores as much as 20 apple ferment. A stack of wine will easily last you at least a week and apple ferment will maybe last 1 day.
Wine is still the king.
