Digging sand

if I try digging sand at the river there is a log.
I need a new technology, but wich one ?
I have already unlogged the church and glasses.

Talk to Bishop. He'll ask you to make some ceramic bowls, and give you the technology to dig up clay and sand.

you can buy the bowls as well near farmer, go west from blacksmith kinda.
