Here's how to restore lost saved file
My notoriously unreliable power company just blinked four times while I was playing, and my saved file disappeared. The .dat and .info files were still in the right folder
(C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Lazy Bear Games\Graveyard Keeper) as 1.dat and 1.info (as well as two backup files).

Copy them to another folder, and delete the originals.
Create a new game, play long enough to save (after the bishop sends you to turn in your first Burial Certificate), save and exit.
Copy your original 1.dat file over the new 1.dat, load the game
The load screen will probably show stats for the brand new game, load it anyway

When I did this, it was my real/original saved game. Once I was able to sleep again it overwrote the .info file, and now the stats appear correct on the load screen too. Hope this helps someone else!

Building off what felixfelicis88 said regarding Mac installations, I noticed my old saves were in a completely different location. When I copied the old save game files from ~/‎⁨Library⁩/Application Support⁩/unity.Lazy Bear Games.Graveyard Keeper/ to ‎⁨~/Library⁩/Application Support⁩/Lazy Bear Games⁩/ and loaded the game everything worked fine. Looks like some time in the last few updates, the save location changed and the game doesn't look for save files in the old location. The file names were identical to what OP and previous commenters listed.

99 hours gone, no 1.dat or any save file in the Locallow?

Not sure where this /library/application support/unity.lazy bear games.graveyard keeper directory is located.

Hi guys, Sorry I have not been back here in a little while, but, I tried a multitude of things, even got a friend involved with trying to get hold of my game saves, sadly I couldnt find the game saves anywhere. So I just started the game again, to see where it would save the game to, but, I still have not found this out yet. I did however continue with my game. So, if it does update, I may loose my game saves again. I wish everyone here more luck than I in finding these lost game saves. If you have problems, please post and I will post any other solutions on here as I go along, and if I indeed find my saves, I will let you know how i finally did it.
mac users have to stick together yano..:steamhappy:

@TheAgent: the ibrary/application /support/utility.lazy bear games.graveyardkeeper directory is in this remote storage if you have not found it anywhere else...just click this link and then you can acess the place where steam keeps all your game saves in the cloud...

https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage

try this first and let me know if you see a daat.1 file and the info.1 file there.

To the original poster: THANK YOU. Like you and everyone else, I freaked out after resuming gameplay and finding out that my save file had been erased from existence. I found this thread, tried your solution and it worked like a charm.

To everyone else: I completely agree that this should not be happening. I can only imagine the amount of frustration that this issue has caused to those players who experienced the same glitch and did not have the inspiration to search for a solution online. I ache for them.

To the devs: If you read this, PLEASE DO SOMETHING. Your game is amazing and you know it. It's a disservice to you and your work that many players' last impression of both will be of betrayal and loss. Having save files dissappear after random power cuts is not normal. Random power cuts will always happen.

to Nat,

hey there! I am so glad that someone has found some hope out of the disparate situation that many others have found themselves in.
Was very happy to have helped at least one person out, that's all really that anyone wants and what these threads are here for.
Thanks again to all those who posted here, and this thread will be here for those who need it.
Keep posting here even if you find a solution, it may mean the difference to others who like me, and Nat, like the game and want to keep others enthusiastic about it, despite its short comings.
:-)

Why O why we can't have proper savegames in games anymore? Why are devs butthurt about providing 5 autosave slots, a quicksave, maybe even more?!?
