Dark heart drop rate ?

Hi,

I got only one dark heart that I gave to the inquisitor. I also need one for Snake, but the dark elements drop rate is very low, and I always get intestines or brain. Could it be a little bugged like if you give the heart to the inquisitor, then it doesn't drop anymore ?
I've been waiting for more than 8 weeks now without any dark heart...
I've grinded all the achievements possible (even the 200 fishs...), so I have nothing more to do in the game but waiting the donkey, checking the body, throw it in the water, rince and repeat...
Quite a boring end game :/

I would like a mechanism, that when using the embalming table to flood the body with lots of red skulls - like 8 will result into squishy parts turning dark.

Yeah I ad this issue too, delayed beating the game by several weeks in fact, as I couldn't give snake his heart.

I realized that you don't have to give the inquisitor any of his organs. "Completing" his quest line is pointless, as when you complete snake's questline, both those characters vanish anyway.

So in a new playthrough I merely gave my dark cultist heart to snake (that sounds gay but it's making me laugh) after researching it.

Also it's bodies that are at least of 5 white skull that 'tend' to have the highest chance of dark organs.
Prayer for repose will help you but only go gold or silver quality. YOu'll want at least 5 chances. The gold will give you 7 chances. The bronze only about 4 chances.

I got a second dark heart already within the first 12 bodies after unlocking. So, maybe you are just unlucky.

at least for me, i didn't have an issue giving the heart to the inquisitor first, pretty sure that's intended most of the time, since they don't unlock until then. They are a pretty low drop rate, I recommend trying the prayer for repose, it may have been coincidence, but when I started using it, i got a dark organ roughly every 3~ bodies or so, least that's what it felt like

Sorry for the necro, but I'm struggling with the same annoying issue.
I have 90 relationship with both Snake and the Inquisitor. Snake wants the dark heart and I am waiting for ingame weeks and RL hours for one to drop. I have plenty of dark brains and dark intestins, but no luck for a heart so far.
The last time I talked to the Inquisitor, I had the option to either rat out Gerry or Snake's dark temple below the church, but I chose neither and now I seem to be stuck.

Wow. After waiting for hours, I just used the Prayer of Repose and the very first corpse delivered had a dark heart.
Now I finished the game and must say ... I'm pretty disappointed. :(

It's completely by chance. If you're desperate enough, I'd just save-scum it - wait until a bit before sunset, just prior to a corpse drop, and save. Then you can load, check the corpse, and if it's not to your liking (i.e. without a dark heart), quit, and reload.

Inquisitor's quest-line is essentially over at that point. You just need to concentrate on Snake's.

You can get a dark heart from Koukol in the quest where you try to cure his hunchback.

That said, I can't imagine having to wait 8 weeks for a particular dark organ. They appear so frequently in my game that they quickly filled 2 shelves (so that's 50 dark organs), so now I just convert them instantly into alchemy resources. The distribution was pretty even between brains, hearts, and intestines.

Either you were extremely unlucky, or there's a factor in my game that isn't in yours. Perhaps the frequency of dark organs is rising with time. Or perhaps my Repose prayers actually _did_ have an effect, just not the one I was looking for. ;)

I honestly can't tell the difference when using the Prayer of Repose when receiving good or dark organs for harvesting. Side note, you can have some red skulls in your zombies as it does nothing to them to impact their performance, only for when corpses are buried in the graveyard do they affect your rating. Makes getting stronger zombies that much easier.

Guys, this might be too late but this thread is the first one you find googling 'Dark Heart'.
I finally found out today that you have to feed the people on Witch's Hill three times. It is something you where told to do but it never appeared in the questlog and as it requires gold star food. This is also something widely irgnored by most players as cooking just sucks and nobody does it voluntarily.
I am writing this because only 13.7% of players finish the game.
It is sad that only because developers forget to put a quest in the log so many questions regarding dark organs appear in the forums and people do not finish the game.

So i've had this problem with dark hearts not spawning and found the solution. The trick is to do every single other quest possible to do before hearts start spawning, for me it was the quest, or set of quests with astrologer, his daughter and Vagner. Only after i got the 2 parts from them i was able to harvest the first heart (i did every other quest i could too). Then, you have to speak to everyone with a dialog icon above them, at least thats what i did. The last thing i was doing to end the game was using prayer of repose constantly. I made sure to always have that buff up, it felt like that helped quite a bit. This solution should help with this problem.

Q : do you produce dark body parts or are they random drop ?
A : To be more precise, when a body is "spawned" there is an RNG rolled to determine dark organs. The only "issue" is whether you can see them or not (which is from a skill).

And the organ will need to be in the body to be triggered to become a dark organ (when you get the skill). This also means that you can hoard organs prior to getting the skill. But they will not reveal to become dark organ (when you get the skill) if they are not in a body.

Also, you should check your old corpses.

Dark organ can be delivered before you have the tech (with a low rate).
But they will be "normal" organ with 4 red skulls and 1 white skull until you got the tech, then any such organ will transform into a dark one.

If you had organ sitting outside of bodies, they will also transform into dark one when put into corpse.
