Is the town present in the game?
I've seen some reports saying that there is no town, but you can buy a town pass in the game so that would suggest there is

There is no town. There is no fort (other than a cutscene).

Dev said the town is a joke that they never want to build it in the game.

There is no town When you go place where it should be, you get hit by lighting and its instant death . Town was "developer joke" aka we didnt have time to place it, or will be added in dlc.

AWEFUL lot of build-up for a joke.

Did you know there's a drought in the town? Did you know the town was starving? Did you know the people of the town will buy vedgetables? Did you know there's a Cathedral in town? Did you know corpses dropped in the river end up in town? Did you know there's a spooky ship of the dead docked in the town? Did you know the water in town is polluted because of this ship? Did you know you can buy an expensive entry pass into the town?

Did you know there is no town in the game?

Wow I was super hyped for the game, stumbling (quite late) upon Aavak's alpha playthrough of this game. This "joke" business is seriously unfunny and bad practice on part of the devs.

Devs ain't getting my 20 bucks.

I was wandering about the Ship of the Dead too, I hope they will add the town soon

This guy gets it. Never buy games that have jokes. If devs are having a bit of fun, the game is unbuyable.

This doesn't feel like a prank or intentional joke at all, it genuinely feels like they ran out of time and the "joke" is placeholder for (possible) DLC/future content...

If you ran out of time you can just say it. Your customers would have something to look forward, but its sounds like it will never get added, because it never was intended to get implemented...
Maybe they will add it(or a modder), but at the moment its just like a prank.

I'm not a real gamer. I'm a discerning customer first and foremost.

Undertale, is a fun game, full of characters who joke. Classic Dynasty warriors is a fun game, full of characters who are jokes. Borderlands is a fun game, full of joke characters who make jokes.

Graveyard Keeper is a game where the dev has fun by turning the content into a joke at the expense of the customer.

See the difference?
