Im going to asssume you have the garden area already and you havent grown any crops. So you need 4 seeds to plant one piece of land. I think each seed costs about 9 bronze coins.
Before you are able to harvest you need to "build" the plot of land. Once built it will ask you to put in the type of plant. Put your plant and all you have to do is wait a few days. You need energy to harvest. Once you harvest you will get your crops, seeds, and crop waste.
At first you will only get about 50% return on seeds, BUT you get crop waste which you can turn into Peat fromt the Compost Heap, which is kind of like fertilizer. So go back to the farmer and buy more seeds to be able to plant another plot or two. But this place the peat into the farm area first (as if it were the 4 seeds), once you do this the plot will have two signs. This indicates you succesfully fertilized the plot. Then plant you four seeds and wait again. This time around you should get around 80-90% of your seeds back. Then just repeat.
For example now I plant carrots on fertilized plot and get 9 carrots and 3-4 seeds per harvest. Not 100% sustainable but close enough. Hope this helps
No idea if it makes any difference.
