If your going down vertically you can take entire lines moving them horizontally takes some practice and luck if you're moving more than one log.
But other than these ways to do it, there's no method that I've seen in-game to do it.
You'd think that if the designers were going to require stockpiling resources, they'd have considered that spending several in-game days carrying trees one at a time instead of doing work is not a fun experience.
Did they ask anyone about this in alpha?
Seems more like an oversight more than to stretch content, because I don't know how you qualify "streching content" by forcing people to only handle two large items at once (with the pressing E constantly).
Same with vegetable crates, what's the point of being able to craft more than one (at relatively the same time, after you've completed one like other workstations) if you can't move more than two at any given time.
