I'm asking HOW DO I PLANT CROPS when I use fertilizer, like I said, the feritlizer or rather the peat takes up a crop space, I don't know how to plant crops with the SIGNS (the hourglass sign and the star sign) and everytime I interact with the plot it just says peat.
Or does fertilizer work with an aura/buff that only works in the surrounding areas but you can't use the space you used fertilizer.
Or maybe its just peat that does it, I haven't tried other types of fertilizer.
You put fertilizer first, then Signs will appear, showing that this space has been buffed. You can now plant a seed in place of the feritlizer in the crafting menu.
(It is not an area, fertilizer only works where you put it).
You can't change the quality of an item that doesn't feature any quality to begin with. Basic crops don't have quality, fertilizer is somewhat useful with them to get more seeds in the end, but you can only upgrade the quality of an item that has... quality.
Yup, just click on the peat, then select 4 seeds instead. You were doing the exact thing I was: clicking to add peat, signs appear, hit E to plant and see peat in there already and WTFing? It's because the dev's thought to add all the peat from your inventory/chest and leave extra "stored" in that soil slot until you remove it and pick a seed. Just a UI thing they probably haven't had enough of us complain about yet. ;( Obviously the peat should auto-unequip from the soil once the signs are placed.
Another pro-tip, don't be like me and play for hours before you realize you CAN create stacked items from the oven or forge by using those arrows on the sides (which I think I subconciously ignored because they only appear on mouseover, whereas they should always be visible from that screen regardless if you're using them).
Don't get me wrong, loving the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, just UI/UX stuff they have to work through.
Edit: It also may be because of a later mechanic we haven't ran into yet, which I've run into a few times with other gameplay bits earlier on.
carrots seem way more lossy just in general though to be fair, i'm almost positive i lost some of those seeds with fertilizer, but to be honest i mostly ignored the merchant that playthrough and i started over recently.
