How to actually harvest honey?

Everyone keeps saying you get honey from the bee trees, but nothing happens when I am standing by one. No prompt to pretty Y to harvest or anything, just... nothing. How do I actually get the honey from the trees with the beehive in them?

Have you researched the tech that gives the ability to gather honey?

Yes I did, afaik. The Beekeeping perk, with Create: Honey and Gathering: Beeswax. There is no specific one that said Gather: Honey akaics.

Its the first one in the beekeeping line so you should have it then.

Not all trees with beehives can give honey. The one near the seed vendor for example don't give any honey. The one near the beekeeper however, does. Maybe try on different trees?

Ah I see yes. The beehive should have bees around it. This worked, and I did not need a perk to get it. I made a new file and tried it there at the tree you suggested and it worked.
