The problem is that the supplemental info given by the quest-giver is not listed anywhere.
I gave an example above, but another one would be getting the Royal Stamp in order to sell human meat. The bar owner suggests I can get one under the table by speaking with the singer who shows up at the bar once a week. Now she won't even talk to me until I'm "worthy" (I think I have to build my confidence or something).
So that's two steps that I have to mentally log 'cause the only thing listed for the Stamp quest is "get the Stamp from the bar owner". That's it.
When you stack 5 or more of these routines up together, it becomes difficult to parse out the details, the who/where/why, 'cause they're not listed anywhere other than the opening conversation with the NPC giving the quest.
Maybe I'm lazy or whatever, but I shouldn't have to keep a notebook at my side to write down quest info that should be logged in the game to begin with.
NPC quests are very low priority. They're complicated, offer little immediate reward, and require mid to late game items to complete.
The Stamp is a huge wild goose chase. Nearly all the Villagers quests tie into it and the reward of selling meat is not worth the hassle in the early game. Instead, just focus on the Bishops quest line.
Improve your graveyard and unlock the church. From there, you can start working on more complicated items in the Research area of the church basement. Eventually you'll be able to make ink and paper yourself.
