Just have it in your inventory or in the chest in the graveyard, in order to remove a body from a grave.

You need to remove any fence and gravestone/cross decoration you have on the grave and to have this exhumation permeation on you to exhume a body

thank you

You can also have the exhumation permissions stored in the graveyard chest, it will also work. Removing decorations is really annoying, so it's most of the time a good idea to not decorate crappy corpses too much.

Unless you are rich in the game, it is not worth it to do exhumation in early game despite unlocking it. Exhume paper cost more than earnings from 1 burial paper money.

Yes, by a whopping 25 copper. MY GOD, the horror. True early game there is only 1 corpse that you should exume because you couldn't have any imput on it's quality, and that's the 1red/1white corpse you bury in the tutorial. It's actually necessary to exume that one to skin it for the first paper after unlocking study table, because sacrificing any other corpse at that point would be a bigger waste in the long run, since all the new corpses you'd get at that point are 5whiteskulls or maybe 6 whiteskull corpses.

I believe you get a second burial certificate when you burn the corpse, leaving you net positive.

You DO get a 2nd burial certificate... making you a net GAIN.... but most of the people complaining about this game don't take the time to actually pay attention to details like this.... you essentially can bury exume bury exume forever to make money in theory.... (havent tried digging them up a 2nd time personally...)

YES IT IS.... get those crappy corpses outta your graveyard EARLY and burn them... (even burning them gets you a "burial" cert!)

Unless my math is incorrect:
Bury corpse :+150 copper
Exhume corpse: -175 copper
Bury corpse again:+150 copper
Exhume corpse again: -175 copper
Excuse me wtf? how are you getting a net gain? The first certificate you get is basically the corpse's value, so if you look at where the sequence starts repeating you would notice you'll lose money, but by all means try it yourself ingame.

If you burn them, it's as if you buried them, but it's not exploitable. It is just to compensate for eliminating the corpse in the graveyard. In the end, you still lose 25 copper by burying a corpse, exhuming and then burning it, as opposed to leaving the corpse alone after burying it.

This post is from waaay back since alpha, I didn't think people would still be active on it. The general idea about corpses is that, after embalming, they managed to have more than 1 red skull, you'll want to exhume them eventually.
After embalming is possible with all 4 good solutions(lye, silver, gold and glue) you will try to only bury corpses with 5 white skulls (before autopsy), because those can be gotten to +12.
Exhuming corpses before filling your graveyard completely is not ideal, as it increases your workload in the early game, and offers minimal benefits. If you're exhuming the starting corpses( the ones that start unautopsied) it's a decent idea because after you autopsy them you will bury them back and they will give a higher grave score.
Burning corpses from graves where you managed to get positive gravescore is dumb though, because you're limited to 5 corpses a week, and you're slowing down your progression later on.

how is +150-175+150 a loss???????????

Unless you're dumb and toss that corpse in the river the bury exume bury exume process you ALWAYS end up benefittting if you STOP @ putting it in the ground/ burning it....

Let me run it down for you, so as to be clearer:

1.You bury it fist time, balance :150
2.You exhume it, balance :-25
3.You bury it again, balance :125
4.You exhume it again, balance: -50
5.you bury it again, or burn it, balance:100.
rinse and repeat, and you will always lose 25 copper per each exhumation and reprocessing process.
