Where do I find Clay?

The title is fairly self explanatory. But I can't seem to find clay anywhere

oh!! so by the person doing pottery in town, theres a hole surrounded by what lookes like cracked dry ground. i dont think the player character can interact with that one, though. by the graveyard somewhere south there should be a similar hole and you can dig up clay there.

Thank you! The world is huge and there's no map so I thought I already explored everything. Guess not!

And how can I interact with that hole? Once I'm standing right in front of it and press 'F', it just says 'Need a technology'.

You need to complete the first quest for the bishop to where he needs you to make bowls and he gives you the ability to dig up clay.

There is a clay deposit just south of the church. The Bishop actually said this when you unlock the ability to harvest clay.
