I found that if the stone stockpile at my house was full (for example) then the porter would stop moving supplies until it had somewhere to unload its inventory, and would instead walk back and forth carrying the same stuff.
If thats the issue you're having, perhaps check the quarry to see if there's a backlog of stuff. If so, check your home base to see whether you're already full on stone/iron/marble slabs that need cutting down to size.
(I didn't notice them preferring any specific storage location - though by the time I though to check that in my playthrough most of the shelves were already more than half-full.)
If there isn't any storage space remaining, they seem to cease production at 99%.
If that doesn't work, when you're in the room itself you should be able to open your inventory and scroll through to see the containers in that area. Maybe get it to make something that is a different colour to most of the other stuff (Alkali, for example?) then look to see where it's ended up sometime during the next day.
