I don't think they're going to update the game soon after Hyperdome's release, they'll probably be focused on updating their newest game first. They need to get out of this weird update style of adding a single challenge that the community will immediately consume and then move on to craving new content for half a year or more again. Their current style of updating the game is not sustainable, and it needs to change to adding lasting content that will actually improve the game.
There's no room to add new difficulty tiers into existing ones, and adding new tiers past insanium wouldn't do anything but make the final tier unnecessarily harder. Endless mode still has room for other types of more content, though. The 4 melee zombie enemies could be implemented in existing difficulty tiers, by having their own separate levels. There could be minigame or boss type levels that could arrive in between existing tiers, which would shake up the existing gameplay much more and is something that would be really appreciated.
I have been working on some big adventures that I think people will enjoy. Right now i'm focusing on finishing a demo for one of them, which hopefully release this year.
